Mitsubishi Outlander 2014 and 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition

Mitsubishi recently unveiled the next generation Outlander at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Japanese automaker plans to bring down the 2013 Outlander to India early next year and might introduce a much needed diesel engine in the crossover vehicle. The new Mitsubishi Outlander will first be launched in Russia, followed by Japan and then will be launched in India. The third generation Outlander gets an all new design along with crucial mechanical upgrades to improve the dynamics of the vehicle tremendously. This new design language will soon find its way across other vehicles from the Mitsubishi stable.

Mitsubishi has introduced a 2.2-litre DI-D diesel engine in the new Outlander, which prodces 150 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. The vehicle now features Stop-and-Go system, which is said to increase efficiency marginally. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox and we can expect Mitsubishi to offer the manual in the Indian market. The Mitsubishi Outlander will get all the bells and whistles but the company needs to price it aggressively to capture a larger share in the Indian market.

With a diesel engine available for the Mitsubishi Outlander, there is little or no reason to not offer it in the diesel loving Indian market. The arrival of the next generation Mitsubishi Outlander in India will coincide with the launch of the next generation Honda CR-V, which too is said to get a diesel heart. This will only make things difficult for Mitsubishi, as a diesel-engined Honda vehicle is the most awaited vehicle in India at the moment.

We've seen the new Mitsubishi Outlander in European form a few times already, but the 'ute has yet to make its roaring debut in the States. That's soon to be rectified, as Mitsubishi has formally announced plans to show the US-sped 2014 Outlander at the upcoming LA Auto Show.

Mitsubishi promises that the 2014 Outlander will be "among the most fuel-efficient compact [crossovers] with seven-passenger seating as standard." In addition to its new aerodynamic bodywork, the 2014 Outlander will bring with it advanced tech like Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control, each with its own fancy sounding acronym.

Also on display will be a new Limited Edition of the 2013 Outlander Sport. Said to commemorate the brand's 30 years in America, the LE will boast blacked-out side mirrors, center bumper (whatever that means...), wheel arches and roof rails. Other tweaks include dark-chrome alloy wheels and the necessary badging. Interestinglu, Mitsubishi says it has fitted a new balance shaft to make the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine a smoother operator.

It is so nice car. When you display it on the motor show, it is best to have a car turntable at Weizhong revolving Machinery Co.,Ltd.
