The Twelve Disciples of Jesus appeared at a New Jersey diner on 12.12.12.
Patrons at the Bendix Diner in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey were shocked to see the 12 Apostles come in for an early supper.
“I thought they were some kind of those theatre types, acting out, but then they told us that December 12, 2012 was a special day for them and they wanted to show themselves on Earth, have a look around them,” said Vinny Caprazzi of Hoboken, who stopped in to have a Cheeseburger Deluxe.
The Apostles told customers that 12.12.12 is a holy day for Christians because it honors – them. ”We don’t get as much credit as we should. Jesus would be nothing without us. It’s kind of like a rock band. The lead singer gets all the credit, but we’re just as important,” said Simon.
Some patron went home and came back to the dinner dressed as the Apostles. ”We thought they’d like it, if we dressed like them,” said Carlo Tripodi.
The Apostles told WWN that they make appearances “every hundred years or so, just to remind people that Jesus had a posse,” said Matthew.
The 12 Apostles chose to sit at the counter instead of in booths. Luckily, the Bendix had 12 stools at the counter. ”They were pretty cool. We even let them drink their own homemade wine, which they brought with them,” said owner Sal Grimaldi.
“There was one guy, Judas, who was causing some trouble. He got into a shouting match with his friends. We had to throw him out,” said Grimaldi. ”Other than that, they were pretty mellow.”
The Apostles at the diner were: Simon Peter, Andrew his brother, James son of Zebedee, John his brother, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon, and Judas Iscariot.
Matthew was hoping to see Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway while they were “in town” but was very disappointed to learn that the show had closed and blamed it on Pontius Pilate.
Outside the diner, some patrons thought they saw Jesus. WWN is investigating.
