The Sorento is Kia’s entry into the cross-over utility vehicle (CUV) segment. The Sorento features unibody construction and a streamlined, modern appearance.

Review:

The Sorento is available in front-wheel drive (FWD) or four-wheel drive (4×4) in five- or seven-seat configurations. A 175-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder, 191-hp direct-injection 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 276-hp 3.5-liter V6 are the available engine choices. A six-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels. All-speed traction control, stability-control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, overhead curtain airbags, anti-whiplash head restraints and ignition disable are just a few of the standard safety features offered. 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, steering wheel audio controls, heated front seats, navigation system and a rearview camera are all available.

The Sorento is a carry-over with minor repackaging for 2013.

Kia Motors America brings for its American fans an updated version of their very popular CUV, the 2013 Sorento.The car has been subtly enhanced with new equipments and interiors to “better suit the customer demands”, and set a niche in the ever so challenging CUV segment.

The 2013 Kia Sorento compact crossover utility vehicle features an aggressive stance and a sleek profile. These translate as a prominent front fascia featuring large flared-back headlamps, fog lamps that stand out, heated outside mirrors with integrated LED turn signal indicators and a rounded nose. Complementing them are the 17-inch alloy wheels with 235/65R17 tires. The range-topping SX on the other hand rides on 18-inch alloy wheels accompanied by chrome-tip exhaust, stainless steel under bumper trim accents and step pad and other price bumping features.

For the interiors, Kia has turned the cabin of its Sorento CUV as it describes ‘tech savvy’. The 2013 Kia Sorento LX comes equipped with air conditioning, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with integrated audio controls, illuminated vanity mirror and power windows, all offered as standard. Optionally, the interested buyers may also go for the Convenience Plus Package that offers eight-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a first aid kit. Moving on to the EX trim, the new enhancements include standard leather seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. Lastly, the SX trims carries forward the standard equipments from the previous trims and adds to them an automatic dimming rear view mirror, four-way power passenger seat and ventilated/cooled/heated front seats (optional on EX),stainless steel pedals and illuminated scuff trim and lots more.

The engine options for the 2013 Kia Sorento include a 2.4-liter MPI four-cylinder with 175 hp and 169 lb-ft (229 Nm) of torque. Next on list is the 191 horsepower 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder engine that gives out 181 pound-feet of torque and returns a fuel efficiency rating of 32 mpg/highway. The most powerful is the 3.5-liter V6 that produces 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic shifting control.
