As apple iOS6 users are trying to navigate through rollercoaster
highways and clouded neighbourhoods, Google is enabling android users
find the right aisle for the bar be que sauce in a grocery store. Google
today announced the launch of its indoor maps functionality in France
and published a list of available locations available.
The indoor maps have been around for a while in the US, Canada and
Japan and available to users using Android 2.2 or above, using atleast
maps version 6.0. The support for various locations in UK and
Switzerland was announced this July. As per Google, there are nearly
10,000 locations available on indoor maps and the database is expanding.
Store owners in US, UK and Japan can upload their floor plans online to
speed up the map creation process. The indoor maps application is built
into Google maps for Android; which means search, latitude and all
other standard maps features can also be used indoors.
