Google Glasses will hit stores this year

Google Glass brand ambassador ( it’s safe to call him that now since he has been spotted wearing these at all times, even at the Oscars Vanity Fair party) Sergey Brin, took to the stage for a TED talk in California and spoke about his pet project.

New York Times quotes the Google co-founder, as saying on smartphones, “I feel like it’s kind of emasculating. You are just rubbing this featureless piece of glass. There isn’t anything to feel.”

Smartphones are just making people anti-social, said Brin. According to this blog post on Ted, Brin feels that smartphones don’t offer the best form of interaction. “Is this the way you’re meant to interact with other people?”

Glass frees the eyes as well as the hands when it comes to connecting to the Internet on the go, according to Brin. In this AFP report, Brin says, “That is why we put the display up high, out of the line of sight. If I wore a ball cap, the display would be on the brim and not where you are looking. And sound goes through bones in the cranium, which is a little freaky at first, but you get used to it.”

Brin also hinted at the Ted Talk that the Glasses would be out this year and probably for less than $1500, which is the current price at which Google is handing them out.
